To resolve this problem, in the mid 90’s I started to study “horary” or predictive astrology.  The word horary means “of the hour”, and the primary reason that I studied this complex system is because it “always” gave correct timing.   How?  Well, it’s rather simple!   In order for an answer to come to pass, it would require two planets coming together to form a relationship.  Based on rules that are over 400 years old, you could measure when the timing was going to occur in a given situation.  So, horary gave me the ability to give more direct answers to questions that began with “when”, and its accuracy is amazing! In addition, horary could answer complex questions with amazing detail that normal clairvoyant readings could not answer.

How It Works

Getting a Reading from me is rather simple.   First, you use the Email Keen buttons located at the bottom of this page.  Select the reading that you would like, and you will be transferred to the Keen site to pay for your reading.   Second, either you can email me on KEEN once you have sent your payment or I will email you when I receive the payment (if this outside of business hours I will take care of it as soon I see it, or first thing the next morning).   When you email me with your questions please provide me with the names and date of birth of the individuals that are part of your questions.  If you do not know, the date of birth that is fine, as long as I have yours to tune into.  Finally, once I have your reading information, I will do your reading and will send it to you within 24 hours (usually much sooner).  I will usually give you an estimated time of arrival in my email correspondences with you.

Mary Greer recently put up a new spread on her website called, “The 4 Aces Spread”.   I found the spread to be pretty illuminating!  The spread brings forth the issues that internally we need to work with.  So, if you are interested in using tarot as a form of self empowerment and/or self transformation then this is a spread that I can definitely recommend.

My Chosen Cards:

Ace of Swords as the 1^st Ace reflects that problem solving is where my primary focus is right now.   This is very relevant as I am attempting to juggle many different projects at the moment and am trying to find time to fit everything into my already heavy schedule.

Ace of Cups as the 2^nd Ace reflects that I may be ignoring my social and relationship needs.  Again, I find this to be very true, as the more I focus on my work related projects I am noticing that my need to be around others and socialize is diminishing.

Ace of Wands as the 3^rd Ace shows the importance of my work and career projects and my personal needs for achievement and moving my career to the next level.

Ace of Disks as the 4^th Ace shows that money and security issues will become important and relevant in the future.

Special Cards: Mary says to place special emphasis on the highest ranking Major Arcana cards.  In this case, I only had one — The Hanged Man.  Out of 12 cards this seems a rather significant theme for me, and is my inner teacher card.

My Reading:

The Ace of Swords being the first Ace to appear in the spread reveals the current mental struggles I am going through.  I am putting together a new website that will take an enormous amount of time and energy.  The Hanged Man straight on reveals the sacrifices I will need to make in order to pursue this goal.  What will I have to give up?

The Ace of Cups is the area that is complicated in the reading.   Cups, of course refer to love and relationships.   One of the areas that may need to be sacrificed is my social interactions with others.   This could involve both my non-career oriented friends as well as people I am involved with professionally.  Since I am a Leo being involved with people and having exchanges with them is important to me.

The Ace of Wands is the “Guide”.   The cards in this row reveal things quite clearly.  The Queen of Wands and 8 of Wands reflect the need to move forward and be true to myself.   These two cards along with the 7 of cups reveal that the choices that I make need to be based on my needs and my personal career direction, and not necessarily the needs of the people around me.   However, I could balance out my social needs by discussions and interaction with those around me that I wish to participate in my new website.

Thankfully, finances and security are not an issue revealed by the Ace of Disks appearing last.   Although future decisions will need to be made that I cannot see at the moment (2 of swords) it does show that with any enterprise concerns and issues will come up, but I must always make choices based on my own happiness rather than what may please others.

Trick or Treat Divination (Top 5 Creepiest Halloween Candy Remixed)

I just love Halloween! Out of all the holidays this one is especially meaningful to psychics because our connection to the “other” world is heightened. On Samhain, a veil is pierced that allows the spirits from the other side to whisper into our ears if you listen closely. Also, it is a time for spooks, ghouls, ghosts, goblins, and just good old fashioned “trick or treating”.

A Bit of History:

Although the tradition of guising and wearing seasonal costumes stretch back to the Middle Ages, the first appearance of “trick or treating” (warning of the homeowner/resident of a trick if a treat is not given) began in 1911 in Kingston, Ontario. Eventually the practice spread to other parts of Canada and ultimately made its first American appearance in Chicago in 1920. By the 1930’s, the practice of trick or treating became a widespread practice in the United States, and eventually permeated the media in 1939.

In the 21st century, Halloween and “Trick or Treating” remains popular, and each year more events occur to celebrate the magical Eve. Over the years, candy and other assorted edible goodies have been created specifically to cater to children who dress up in costumes and visit neighborhood doors to collect their loot. Inside bags across North America, assorted chocolates, lollypops, candy corn, and the occasional piece of fruit are enjoyed by many young and old. However, in certain cases “the trick” might be played on those individuals who are ‘souling’ (the medieval practice of the poor going door to door on Hallowmas receiving food in return for prayers for the dead) when they receive unusual treats.

The Fun Begins:

Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) recently put a link up on his twitter page, which I found incredibly fun. The candy images that were used in a Houston blog were just freaky, creepy, and hysterically hilarious. I am reposting the images here with my “psychic” commentary.

Ask your bag of candy a question. Any question. Do you wish to know about your love life, career, or finances? Any questions that you would normally ask a psychic. Write your question down on a piece of paper.

No Noted Anomalies:

If you receive a bag of candy that has no anomalies, this means that the spirits are at peace with you. This year they plan to bless you with the abundance of certainty and prosperity. You will find your life to be very sweet and depending on the amount of candy in your bag – very rich! However, too much involvement in matters of the physical could lead to an upset stomach – especially if you over indulge in the chocolate tasting candies! Computer Programming Job leads to being the CEO of a High End Software business like Microsoft. Never judge anything by its outer shell, on the inside you might have just found your gold mine. On a divinatory level, receiving a box of Spooky Nerds means that love — although in an unusual package – may enter into your life. If you are currently in a relationship, the message from the spirits is to dress your boyfriend/husband up in more nerdy ways – it just might rub off!

Gummy Body Parts Candy:

If you receive a package of Gummy Body Parts in your bag, the spirits are giving you a direct warning. You should proceed with caution, as an unusual individual in your neighborhood is thinking about you. Depending on what body part you receive will reveal what he/she is thinking about. Although this may creep you out knowing that others are thinking about you, it might not be all that bad. It might be that he/she is admiring certain parts of your anatomy – brains, fingers, lips, limbs or teeth. On a divinatory level, Gummy Body Parts are a sign from the spirits for you to horde what you have. Keep everything close to you, because someone may be after it – especially if you receive the Hannibal Lector Gummy Body Parts edition! Now, how about some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Zit Poppers:

Oh Zits! Remember them? They were those awkward red things on your face when you were a teenager, usually the result of eating too much candy or greasy foods. In other words, creations from God so that teenagers could not enjoy life! If you think about it, they are natures abstinence program for many, so we should not view them as all bad. Receiving a package of Zit Poppers in your Halloween bag though is a very good thing! It reflects that new things are on the horizon for you. This could be either in love, career, or money. Since zits are a reflection of an early stage of life development before a situation comes into full adult form, you should embrace your zit poppers candy and cherish and nurture it further. On a divinatory level, Zit Poppers reflects the birth of something new, something coming to fruition in your life, and even the possibility of pregnancy. However, if you are under the age of 21, that will not come for at least 6 to 7 years or the spirits will be quite angry! Never tick a spirit off, remember Whoopi Goldberg from Ghosts? They might come to your house and sing songs all night – annoying the heck out of you.

Box of Boogers:

I know this is completely revolting. If you get this candy immediately check under your tables, desks, and chairs – anywhere occupied by young kids – and see if any crusty objects exist. If you do find some objects then you are blessed for years to come. Boogers are great when you receive them. They represent changes and negative circumstances from your life fading. Although difficulties from the past may still be apparent if you receive this candy, the spirits will make sure that your problems fade and evaporate as long as you pick them one at a time. On the divinatory level, receiving a box of boogers means that your problems and situations are trapped in a box. If you take this box and immediately get rid of it, you will find your problems quickly evaporating from your life. However, if you choose to eat these boogers, then I can snot be responsible for any problems that may occur. You have been warned!

Scab A Roni:

For some reason, when I was analyzing this package, dreams and visions of San Francisco — Oh, wait – that’s Rice A Roni! On the candy label, I noticed that there were 16 scabs that were available. 16 in many cultures, numerologically, and even in the Tarot reflect the tearing down of existing structures and something new is replaced. This could be ideas, belief systems that you have held onto, and even circumstances in your life that come in the form of disruption, yet give way to something good or better. In the Tarot, this is the Tower Card, and if you notice on the packaging it looks like 3 towers of scabby candy. On a divinatory level, when you receive Scab A Roni this means that circumstances that you have held onto well past their sell by date, will come crumbling down. You might even pick them off yourself, by looking at the areas of your life that you need to change. Remember, scabs are made of coagulated blood which is our most powerful life force. Once your scabs are torn off, new opportunities will come about that are much more beneficial to you.

Conclusion:

These are just the known creepy candy that I could find! I am sure that there are some unknown and some yet created or discovered. One of the problems in writing a blog is being concise enough to be informative, yet not overwhelming the reader with information overload. This is daunting, when dealing with a complex subject like Mercury Retrograde (now known as Mercury Rx). Regardless, on September 7, 2009,  astrology websites across the internet will begin to echo the reminder that “the trickster planet” has gone retrograde. I’ve written volumes about the effects of Mercury Rx – what I intend to explore here is the natural process of reflection inherent in the configuration to provide deeper understanding of our natural rhythms of life.

What is Mercury? For those that do not have an astrological language, Mercury represents our understanding of life. He is the planet of education, communication, discussion, documents, papers, television, radio and the information you search for on the internet. In Greek Mythology, he is known as Hermes the swift footed communication God and the protector of commerce and industry. Unlike the other planets, Mercury is rather unique by appearing to move backwards 3-4X per year. The retrogradation process is notorious for causing problems with communication, technical problems, plan hassles, and it is not wise to begin anything new or make vast changes during this period.

The Greek Hermes was a two-fold deity as astrological Mercury rules the two signs of Gemini and Virgo. On one hand, Hermes (Mercury) is the messenger of the God’s and the God of crossroads (periods in our life, where we do not know what decisions to make?) and mental connections. He appears in our lives when we suddenly understand something with new clarity and new comprehension. However, Hermes was one of the few deities (along with Hecate and Persephone) that were allowed to traverse the boundaries between the upper world (consciousness) and the underworld (unconsciousness). In his underworld guise, he serves two primary functions. He ushers the souls of the dead down to their final resting place, and in a few instances used necromancy to bring the souls of the dead back to the land of the living. His role of the psycho-pomp, I believe gives us the deepest understanding of Mercury Rx.

In astrology, we can take Mercury’s passage through the zodiac as a cyclical period. Every so often, Mercury turns around and moves the other direction creating a more introverted tone to the mainly extroverted planet. Since I believe astrology is instructional, Mercury sends us a message that we need to turn “inward” and review the past period of direct motion. (To an extent, I believe all the planets when they go retrograde urge us to reflect on certain areas of our lives colored by the sign the planet goes retrograde in) Mercury’s last direct motion was from May 30, 2009 – September 5, 2009.

Activity 1: Get out a piece of paper. Write down the events and circumstances that you have found meaningful or distressful from May 30, 2009 – September 5, 2009. Explore as many areas as you can. Take a look at the significant areas of your life – financial, professional, and relationships, and write down how you feel about these particular areas. What did you experience? Once you are done writing, fold up the paper and continue reading.

Another tool we can use to amplify Mercury Rx is through the tarot Major Arcana card of Judgement. One of the best decks that I have seen that conveys the deepest layers of the Judgement card is the Mythic Tarot. The card makes use of Hermes role as the psycho-pomp, at what appears to be the entrance to the underworld (unconscious). Beneath him are the sarcophagi with three mummified figures reaching up towards Hermes. Many astrologers consider Mercury Rx to be a time where unresolved issues from the past come back to be resolved. Likewise, I believe the Judgement card represents rewards for past efforts, and a deep understanding that we ourselves “create” our own future through the actions and decisions that we make in life. In many ways, we truly ‘reap what we sew’.

Taking ownership of our current circumstances is a powerful healing mechanism. It allows us to take control of our lives, and provides us with the opportunity to make better choices and decisions that create our future. Mercury Rx can provide us a cyclical period to examine our past actions, behaviors, upsets and joys and understand the deeper side of our personality. We may find parts of ourselves that may need improvement, parts we need to work on, and parts we really like. We can use this time to make great inner change! Looking at the Judgment card once again, we can visualize the mummified rags on the corpses as symbols for the parts of our lives we would like to change. Underneath those rags of the past, might be the butterflies for our future tomorrow.

Activity 2:

Take a look at the figure of the Judgement card for a few moments. Now close your eyes. Imagine yourself in the room with Hermes. Talk to him and ask him for assistance in helping you understand the aspects of your life that you would like to change. Take note of any feelings or messages that you may have received.

Activity 3:

Take out your piece of paper in Activity 1. Re-read it and make note of how you feel about the past few months. What do you believe you need to change? Print up the black and white version of the Judgement card. Now, get out a pack of crayons or colored pencils and color in the figure of the Judgment card. Use any colors that you wish to reflect your current situation, and the events of the past few months. Use the three figures in the sarcophagi to reflect areas of your life that you have new insight about, or wish to change. Take a look at the figure you have created. Close your eyes. Imagine yourself in the room with Hermes. Talk to him and ask him for assistance in helping you make the changes that you need to make in your life. Ask Hermes to provide you with the information necessary or tools he can provide you with to assist you in your tasks. Take note of any feelings or messages that you may have received.

Oh, how exciting the sign of Leo can be. The King of the Zodiac rules everything from our lustful carnal desires to our sense of self and inner autonomy. However, this Full Moon in Leo is no ordinary garden variety event it is a Lunar Eclipse! Its effects will last until the next eclipse cycle begins in July.

Eclipses are interesting and recently there has been enormous information published on the internet about them and their effects; however there is much controversy over their meaning and relevancy. Many astrologers use the information provided by eclipses to map the twists and turns of the political landscape, and others write about their occurrences in connection with the natal chart with intensity, awe, and great wonder. Interestingly, much is said about them, but complete understanding of eclipse effects is as fleeting as the moons phases. However, one thing I am certain of is that eclipses cannot “make” things happen, they serve as triggers for “other” energies at play, which have been building up over long periods of time. Eclipses reveal “what possibly” could occur, but do not guarantee events. I believe this general “understanding” should be used with both mundane and natal charts.

Now, I am not an expert on eclipses, I leave that to those much more acclimated to this extensive and laborious study. However, I do believe that a general understanding of how to interpret them in a natal chart is necessary. For the purposes of this blog, I will be focusing on natal charts.

Further, there are many basic astrological references that are readily available on the internet, which will assist you in discovering and/or understanding the personal components of your horoscope. You could actively use Google or any other search engine to study the basics of astrology.)

A lunar eclipse is a full moon lunation. When we are working with them we need to think in terms of pairs of signs or a polarity. Anytime we are dealing with an “opposition” aspect the issues of relationships come to the center stage as they are the primary concern of lunar eclipses which tend to manifest in terms of physical events and emotional encounters with others. This can happen in a direct or indirect fashion, as we tend to notice what we lack in our lives when we are influenced by them. Often, the issues that are stirred up can bring two people together or can end a relationship or circumstance we had great emotional investment in. The area of life an eclipse affects is not coincidental, yet a part of the chart that has been building inside us for some time. The eclipse makes us feel very compulsive and urges us to make changes by releasing the old and accepting the new.

The polarity we are concerned with under this current eclipse is the Leo/Aquarius axis. The crisis in the polarity, evoked by the eclipse brings to the surface issues surrounding the opposing forces that are innate within the polarity. Therefore, Leo/Aquarius is the balancing of all things personal (Leo) and all things collective (Aquarius). The energy of Leo pertains to the areas of life, which are personal and revolves around personal wants, needs and desires. Conversely, the energy of Aquarius has everything to do with the areas of life which concern the group and revolves around group motivations, needs, and yearnings.

One some level we are all affected by eclipses. For many it may be noticeable, and for others it may be experienced in the lives of those that “affect” us in a direct manner. For example, this eclipse lands within 2 degrees of Pop Star Madonna’s natal Sun, yet the news of the day does not involve her, but her current significant other Alex Rodriguez.

To get a glimpse of how this eclipse is going to affect your life, you can also review the last time this eclipse made a path through your chart. This eclipse pattern is the same eclipse pattern that occurred in February 1990. Think about the events that occurred in your life at that time, and what events and lessons these experiences taught you. If you found yourself looking at career issues in 1990, you may find yourself looking at career issues again in 2009. Regardless, the patterns repeat themselves about every 18-19 years, and refocus our attentions on those areas of life that they occur. The eclipse will trigger issues in the natal horoscope where Leo/Aquarius axis lie and often will affect the house(s) the eclipse is in as well as any planet within a 2 degree orb of the Eclipse. We experience them as a sudden surge of intellectual or intuitive understanding that gives our life more meaning, and often pushes us into action in the areas of our chart where they fall. Since this eclipse is in the sign of Leo, issues surrounding flaws and difficulties in romantic relationships, our children, and creative activities rise to the surface in order for us to review and force us to make changes in the areas they directly affect.

If the eclipse transits over a natal planet you may feel an urge or intensity in the areas of life governed by the planet. If the eclipses conjoins with your natal Venus you may find that the areas of your personal relationships, what you desire out of a relationship and your finances can be strong influenced. On the other hand, if the eclipse squares your natal Sun, you could find issues surrounding your identity, your urge to be yourself and a need to create something new in your life rise to the surface.

It is necessary to also keep in mind the house in your chart where the eclipse falls. Eclipses tend to stir up the areas of your life governed by the houses where they fall. If the eclipse falls in your 1^st house, you may find issues surrounding the need to redefine your personal needs, the image you project to the outer world, and placing your personal needs foremost in your life while being attentive to the needs of others. If the eclipse lands in your 7^th then you may need to place the needs of your relationships before other areas of your life, while staying true to yourself and your own principles. Finally, if the eclipse lands in the 10^th house issues surrounding your career and vocational ambitions may come to the surface. You may find yourself attracted to new lines of work, making career changes, or possibly being promoted or achieving a new pinnacle in your personal life.

The power of eclipses is a great mystery. They appear in our lives out of the blue, which often shake up our foundation and force us to focus our attention on areas of life where the eclipse lands in our charts. However, eclipses help us understand our own rhythms and life patterns, and the deeper flow of life’s ever-changing cycles occurring on both the physical and emotional level. This gives us a glimpse into a life that is neither unexpected nor random, but a natural evolution of the Self.

PARIS (AFP) – A few lucky people in the Indian Ocean will be treated to a rare event on Monday when an annular solar eclipse will transform the Sun into a dark disc with a blazing ring-shaped corona around its rim.

In solar eclipses, the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow on the terrestrial surface.

In an annular eclipse, a tiny shift in distance that results from celestial mechanics means the Moon does not completely cover the Sun’s face, as it does in a total eclipse.

Instead, for those directly under the alignment, the Moon covers most of the Sun’s surface, and a ring-like crown of solar light blazes from the edge of the disk.

For those watching from the fringe of the track, the Sun is partially obscured, as if a bite has been taken out of it.

According to veteran NASA eclipse-watcher Fred Espenak, the total eclipse track will run from west to east on Monday from 0606 GMT to 0952 GMT.

It will traverse the Indian Ocean and western Indonesia before petering out just short of Mindanao, the Philippines.

The partial eclipse will be seen in a much wider swathe, including the southern third of Africa, Madagascar, Australia, Southeast India, Southeast Asia and Indonesia.

It will be the only annular solar eclipse this year. The last was on 7 February, 2007, and after Monday, the next one will be on 15 January, 2010.

The big event for eclipse junkies this year is on July 22, when a total solar eclipse will be visible from India and China, the world’s two most populous countries.

The celebration of the New Year is a time honored tradition.  In fact, its roots are actually derived from the Judaic customs of Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah.   During this period, the religious custom is to reflect on one’s wrongdoings over the year and both seek and offer forgiveness.   The process is to reflect upon self improvement annually.  We have simplified this process and summed it up as New Year’s Resolutions.  However, Astrology never sees anything as a one day process.  In fact, it views life as movement and a continuous flow of growth and maturation of consciousness.

So, what does Astrology tell us about the New Year’s Resolution?   According to J. Lee Lehman in her, “Book of Rulerships,” the word ‘resolute’ is ruled by the Sun.   The Sun is the center of consciousness within the individual.  It is our center, and what makes each of us different and unique.   The Moon in astrology is the ruler of change.   She reflects the flow of our day to day life, and is one of the primary planets of timing in many astrological traditions.   The relationship between the Sun and the Moon is how we measure time on the astrological level.  This process is called a lunation.

Each month the Sun and Moon goes through several stages.  For the purpose of this article the focus will be on the major moon phases.  Each phase represents a different and unique part of the monthly process.

So, what astrological sign is the best to break old habits?   According to the 12-step recovery movement, it takes approximately 28 days (a lunation cycle) to break a habit or an addiction.  Since we are concerned with resolutions or breaking negative habits we must direct ourselves astrologically to the earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) as these are the signs concerned with our senses and physical life.   Most resolutions are concerned with giving up something unhealthy such as quitting smoking, losing weight, abstaining from alcohol, giving up chocolate and candy or any other behavior that the social milieu deems as unacceptable or unhealthy.   In essence, our resolutions are based on social codes or morals.  The sign that rules social codes and morals is Capricorn.  So, we can use this Capricorn (interesting that New Year’s Day falls under this sign) lunation to successfully focus on resolutions and letting go of behaviors we wish to let go of.  The Capricorn lunation cycle began on December 27, 2008 when the Sun and Moon conjoined in the sign of Capricorn.   It comes to its conclusion on January 26, 2009 (day of the Solar Eclipse) when the Sun and Moon conjoin in Aquarius.  We are currently in the last phase of this process, which is the energy period of turning away from the old or things we wish to let go of, and beginning to envision a life free of old habits.

New Moon:    This is the initial phase or seed level.   When making resolutions it is best to have a plan, and the best way to incorporate a plan is for you to write it down.   Make a list of all the things you wish to change in your life.   During this phase, you can put down many different potential resolutions.  Do you wish to lose weight?  Do you want to spend less money?   Do you want to eat healthier foods?   It is my belief that writing things down create a relationship with the areas of your life that you would like to change.  According to Kabbalah, the eye is the most powerful organ in the human body, because it is the transmitter of information.  Writing things down is the first process in letting something go or giving something up.

First Quarter Moon:  This phase is about action.   Let’s make a plan!   For example, you plan to stop smoking.  How do you plan to go about this?   Are you going to stop cold turkey or are you going to use patches?   In addition, research (Google is an all powerful spirit guide) ideas to help you stick to your goal.   Use this for each of the areas that you wish to quit.

Full Moon:   This is the structure building phase.  Look at your list and your action plan.  Which one of these areas of your life do you wish to let go of?   I believe that to be successful at letting things go is to work at one thing at a time.   Make your choice!

Last Quarter Moon:  In astrology, this is considered the crisis in consciousness phase.   This is a time to turn away from the old unworkable structures and preparing to focus on the new.  I believe that this is another action phase.   During this phase (approx 6-9 days) you make your change.  You begin to become resolute, and you take all the information that you have used in the aforementioned steps, and apply them to your plan.  Be gentle with yourself, and remember the famous recovery phrase,  “One Day At A Time.”
