The 12 Days of Yule: Day 7 — Count Your Blessings!

We all receive many blessings in our life, and many simply go unacknowledged.   I mean how many of us wake up in the morning and realize how blessed we are?  Are your bills paid?  Do you have good health?  Do you have food and shelter?  Do you have a bed to sleep in?  There are so many things that we take for granted that are truly blessings in our life.  Even our ability to go out and make a living is a blessing! These blessings are gifts from the universe, and we accept them without really acknowledging them in most cases.

Today, we focus on the blessings in our life.   How are you blessed?

Activity 7:

On your Yule paper write down all the ways that you are blessed in your life.   This can be a simple list or it can be a list that you put much thought into.   There are no rules just acknowledgement of blessings.

Now, pull out your deck.   Shuffle the cards thoroughly and ask yourself the following question, “How am I blessed in my life?”   Fan your cards out and draw a card out of your deck.

The card I drew from The Legacy of the Divine Tarot is The Wheel.

I must admit that I had to spend some time meditating on this card before writing about it.  The divinatory meaning of the Wheel usually reflects a sudden change of fortune.   Now for those that are currently going through a struggle the Wheel is a welcome relief card, but if things are currently going well in your life the Wheel can be a rather disturbing and frightening card.    In essence, there is an unpredictability that is innate within this card – just as life itself is unpredictable.

So, where exactly is the blessing in this card?  I think the blessing is that everything does change.  Life is not stagnancy – could you imagine how utterly boring that would be?  Even in our darkest moments, we are comforted in the fact that life is going to change, and that the circumstances in our life will become better.   In addition, when life is going very well for us, we can understand the blessings that change ultimately brings to move us to the next level.

The 12 Days of Yule: Day 6 — Gimme Gumption

Can you believe we are already half way through the 12 Days of Yule?  Time has quickly flown, but the daily insight that many of you are sharing with me has been intense, enlightening, and challenging.   As they say in the fitness industry – no pain, no gain!  That is true with self-discovery as well.

My friend and fellow candle maker Dorothy Morrison has a candle in her Wicked Witch Mojo line called Gimme Gumption.  It is one of my favorite candles out of her line!  Why?  It breaks away the fears that are plaguing us in our lives and provides us with the courage to proceed in the future.   Recently, during my radio show, Dorothy appeared as a guest and told Jacki Smith and I that if you use Gimme Gumption with Tornado Ally and Poof, you can pretty much remove any form of addiction or self-defeating behaviors you may have in your life.

So, what is gumption?  This is what Mr. Webster has to say:

–noun Informal.

1.

initiative; aggressiveness; resourcefulness: With his gumption he’ll make a success of himself.

2.

courage; spunk; guts: It takes gumption to quit a high-paying job.

3.

common sense; shrewdness.

In essence, gumption is that natural resourcefulness that we all have within us.  It is our inner magic!  We can use gumption, whenever all else fails.  All it takes is a little curiousness to figure out exactly where our gumption is.  When we combine honor and integrity with gumption – we have a recipe for success!

Activity 6:

Shuffle your deck thoroughly.   Fan the cards out in front of you and ask the cards, “What is my gumption?”  Draw your card from the deck.

The card I drew is the Ace of Coins

This did not surprise me at all.  The one thing that I know how to do well is make money.  I know business, marketing, and I know how to utilize these things to the best of my ability.   Furthermore, whenever I am funky, blue, down, or going through a crisis the area that I turn to is work.   It is my comfort zone.

The 12 Days of Yule: Day 5 — Honor Thyself!

Day 5:  Honor Thyself!

Can you believe we are already on Day 5?   The 12 Days of Yule are moving rather quickly!

I was talking to Jacki Smith (Co-Host, Psychic Friends Live) and we both were feeling rather lackadaisical – which is rather unusual for the two of us.   We both live very busy professional lives, and to have this feeling is rather odd.   During our discussion, we both realized that this time of the year is filled with a rather collective anxiety (last minute shopping, traveling anxieties, familial pressures) and being intuitive it is especially hard.  The holiday season is filled with angst, and it’s very easy to get caught up in this madness.

So with a nod to my good friend, this day is for all of us that need to honor ourselves in order to give more to those that are around us.

Day 5:

Shuffle your decks thoroughly.  Meditate on the following question, “How do I honor myself as I move forward?”  Spread your cards out and draw one.

The card I selected is – The Ace of Cups (beginnings of emotions, passions, and relationships)

The Day 5 card is rather instructive – it tells you what to do! How do we honor ourselves?  Since I selected the Ace of Cups it is revealing to me that I need to focus on redeveloping a relationship with myself!   In many ways, I am noticing a theme beginning to emerge.   The theme is about management and new creations, and often we can get caught up in the problems of the world and begin to quit taking care of ourselves.   The Ace of Cups instructs me to do more things that give me happiness and pleasure.   I think I will start with some Grand Marnier Egg Nog!

The 12 Days of Yule: Day 4 — Moving Forward

This is the 4th day of the 12 Days of Yule.  Over the past 3 days we have explored our dreams, our individuality, and our blocks, and I have received numerous emails about how insightful these 3 days have been for them.   Today, we begin to look towards the future.

Activity 4:

Shuffle your cards.   Ask yourself the following question,  “How do I begin to move forward after acknowledging my blocks and limitations?   Write the name of this card down on your Yule paper next to the card from yesterday.

Today, I drew the Emperor.   The Emperor reflects the need to take control and building foundations.   In essence, he is about owning your own sense of power — in this case my sense of power.  (Entertainingly, we just discussed this card on Beyond Worlds — you can listen to it in the archives.)

The 12 Days of Yule: Day 3 — The Time of Beth

I hope that you have been enjoying the Days of Yule.  Already, I have gained enormous personal insight into what is going on in my life currently, and I hope you’re insight is equally as profound.

Today, we are on Day 3, which is called, “The Time of Beth”.  Now, my co-host Beth Savitt is going to love that!   The time of Beth, in paganism, is a period of realization and movement forward.  For the past several months the Sun has been decreasing in light, on solstice we had the shortest day of the year, and now we begin to see the Sun increasing in light.  This following month (of Capricorn or Beth in Celtic thought) is a time for us to begin looking towards this light.   In addition, it is a time to look towards our future.

The Time of Beth is significant to understand our inner blocks! Before we can begin to move forward and create positive change or manifest our desires we need to spend some time reflecting on what might be holding us back.   This will provide us with clarity of pitfalls that might prevent our forward movement.  As an aside, today is a great day to begin protection or healing magic.

Activity 3:

Tarot is a quick and easy way to get to the root of our issues.   Shuffle your deck thoroughly.   Ask the cards the following question, “What are the inner blocks andresistances that are holding us back?”  Spread the cards out and select one.

My card is:  The Page of Wands (Write this down with your two other cards you pulled.  For example – I have pulled The Empress, The 5 of Coins, and now the Page of Wands)

The Page of Wands normally reflects the beginning of a creative project, or some form of creative idea that is in its beginning stages.   However, when it is a blocking card it represents the spirit of restlessness and irritability.    The time of Beth is a time for me to explore what makes me restless, and use this as a catalyst to expand my life.

The 12 Days of Yule: Day 2 — Winter Solstice

Last night we began Yule season with Mother’s Night Dream.    What were your dreams about?   What was the theme?  If you would like to review yesterday’s activity you can review the blog – here.

The card that I drew from Ciro Marchetti’s Legacy of the Divine Tarot was — The Empress.   (If you missed our Beyond World’s show on The High Priestess and The Empress, you can always listen to it in the archives)

Empress Keywords:   Nurturing, creation, birth, pregnancy, abundance, mothering, the adult woman principle.

I was rather shocked when I pulled the Empress card.  Last night my dream was about finding a baby left out in the cold on the street.   I was searching desperately for the parents, but could not find them.   I eventually took the baby into my home and started feeding it and taking care of it.   In addition, I remember my cat being in the dream as well.

So, what would this reflect about the New Year?   Babies in dreams are reflective of new projects, new beginnings, new opportunities, and things that need to be nourished and nurtured.  This dream could indicate something new that is coming into my life (hopefully not a literal baby), or the possibilities of fertile relationships and financial abundance.  It is rather exciting!

Day 2 – Winter Solstice

Today, the Sun will move out of the sign of Sagittarius and into the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn has to do with structures and organizing principles. It is ambitious, practical, serious, and masterful. It is worth noting that on Winter Solstice, in many religious systems, it is the time when the new Sun God is born. It is not without mistake that Jesus, Mithras, and Dionysus were all “said” (there are tons of questions about Jesus) around the solstice.

Although most of us do not like structure, order, and rules; we are granted a unique opportunity during the month of Capricorn to begin to build structures for the coming year. We throw these under interesting umbrellas such as New Year’s resolutions, but the fact remains that something is going to begin in January, and we now have the ability to map that course and destiny for ourselves. You can become your own master, and create a new game of living. Again, it is rather exciting!

Shuffle the cards thoroughly and ask yourself – what do I need to do to be more individual in the coming year? Take the card out and write it on your solstice paper next to your dream card.
