The Sun begins its transit through the sign of Aries and the Astrological New Year begins.  We leave the bitter cold of winter and embrace the fertile potency of spring.  Likewise, Aries is a surge of energy demanding to be noticed.   The sun moving into the first of the fire signs reflects our personal potency and gives us drive and determination to push forward with our goals.

On an everyday level, we are granted opportunity this month to begin the process of creation and manifestation.  Use this period, to envision what you would like to do over the next twelve months.  We can be wild and free with our imagery and desires, as the Sign of Aries is not fond of hierarchal structures and is the embodiment of the spirit of potential and possibility.   With the Sun moving through this sign, it is necessary for us to discover our calling – and become our own personal champion and hero.

Astrology Highlights of the Week:

Mercury moves into Aries
Mercury Squares Pluto
Sun Conjuncts Venus
Mercury Conjuncts Venus
New Moon in Aries

After several days without planetary aspects beyond the Luminaries (Sun and the Moon), Mars in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn.

but i’m trying

This planetary combo provides us with enormous energy, mental power, and perseverance.  If you are determined to succeed and get things accomplished, you will find that today things will roll forth with ease and you can achieve your goals.

This aspect, even though it is considered positive, often propels us to prove ourselves and exercise power.  In my experience this can be as harmful as it is helpful.  How many times have you found it easy to go down a destructive course, only to realize we have run off the track and smacked ourselves against the “dead ends” of life?   Mars sextile Pluto can be the gasoline that ignites the flames that throws us off the track!   We should attempt to check our motivations before we proceed, and understand that we can be quite unreasonable and expect a lot from ourselves.

The saving grace for today is the Moon’s transit through controlled Capricorn may help to limit the explosive tendencies of the Mars/Pluto aspect.   Capricorn Moons are disciplined and endures through most circumstances.   You may experience a strong sense of responsibility towards others, while you reach for a sense of structure and security in your life.  So, as you see the train stop at the gate, the Capricorn moon gives us the ability to keep our feet firmly planted on the ground, while taking one step forward at a time.

I never know how a particular energy is going to manifest.  Sure, I know the keywords, sign and planetary meanings, and aspect configurations, but often how the energy manifests in our daily life is a mystery.   The Moon in Sagittarius is quite exciting, dramatic, and over the top, but did it have to manifest as a “Nancy Drew Murder Mystery?”

Being the “reflective” person that I am, I decided this evening (after all the noise of the day had quieted down, and we can tap into our greatest spiritual thoughts and channels) to turn inward and hope to gleam some wisdom (another Sagittarian keyword) and I realized that dramatic circumstances are often the motivator towards us taking action against complacency.   Drama fuels us and provides enormous energy to get things done!  After all, Jupiter the ruler of Sagittarius hurled quite the dramatic proclamations, which created the energy for all those mythic figures to take on the quest of the “Heroes Journey.”

Although it is popular, en vogue, and politically correct for us to look at life and desire a “drama free” zone or as Mary J. Blidge so declared, “No More Drama,” I believe that we should use the moments where drama occurs in our lives to ask ourselves what we need to change?  We are approaching the final quarter phase of the New Moon in Pisces conjunction which occurred on February 24, 2009.  Astrology, being the instructive language that it is propels us to resolve loose ends and provides with the energy to move forward.   We enter a new astrological New Year in a few days, and are you prepared to take up your Heroic Journey?

So, the inner lesson we can learn is that avoiding drama might be akin to sticking your head in the sand.   Often avoiding it is the wrong answer!   Ignoring it may prevent us from learning the lessons in life that we need to learn, and preventing us from being the person we were meant to be.  So, the next time the Moon moves into Sagittarius, scream, “YES DRAMA,” and open yourself to the change it will create if you are heroic enough to take up the journey.

Sunday proved to be an interesting and intense day as I received numerous emails from friends and clients who all expressed the murkiness and lack of energy to accomplish much of anything.  Thankfully, the Moon moves into Sagittarius today and should ignite a day with more interest and enthusiasm.  Whenever the Moon is in Sagittarius we suddenly notice life’s adventures and new opportunities.  Explore your options today and proceed with excitement on the beginning of your new journey.

If you are considering making any financial decisions on Monday, there is a semisextile between Mercury and Venus.  Semisextiles are dual edged aspects because they correlate with the fortune second and unfortunate twelfth houses.  This could bring forth minor inconveniences which can open the door to new possibilities.  We can use the energy of the day to focus (Mercury) on our current financial (Venus) situation and make changes where necessary.

The week starts off on Sunday with the Moon being in Scorpio.  We can expect a lot from this Moon, but we may experience it with great emotional intensity.  You may notice an increase in your psychic feelings and intuition as we go through the day and our ability to understand the emotions and motives of others may make us feel disjointed and uncomfortable.   The Moon in transformative Scorpio provides us with deep emotional feelings, yet it also fears being vulnerable to those we love and are the closest.  We may have a heightened sense of reacting to the actions of others, and could p9ossibly find it difficult to forgive those who may hurt.

The Moon makes several aspects during the day including a sextile to Saturn and a trine to Uranus.  The sextile to Saturn provides us with opportunities to sit down with old friends and enjoy our social circle.  The trine to Uranus opens doors for creativity, psychic awareness, and inspiration.  Sitting down with a simply metaphysical book, magazine, or blog can provide a productive release to the intensity of this moon.

The last aspect the Moon makes before going void at 8:43 PM EDT is a trine to the Sun.  Again, the focus is on being creative, emotionally receptive, and our ability to understand things at a greater depth is highlighted.  The void Moon will continue through the evening.  Take the extra time to relax, recuperate, and prepare for what appears to be a very exciting week.

Highlights of the Week:

Mercury in Pisces oppose Saturn in Virgo
Mars in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn
Sun moves out of Pisces and into Aries
Mercury in Pisces conjoins with Uranus in Pisces
