Sun in Aquarius Sun in Aquarius at 10:51 PM EST / 7:51PM PST

Grab your charts.  If you need a copy of yours, you can get one for free at my website.   If you have any planets in Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius then this astrological position will be of increased significance to you.

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you probably are experiencing a bit of cabin fever.  According to the Weather Channel, the winter season of 2013/2014 has been the coldest on record in a century for parts of the United States.   Looking at the Weather charts for the next few months does not really show much improvement, so expect extreme weather conditions followed by bitter cold temperatures.  However, the cure for cabin fever may not come in a mid-winter thaw, but with the Sun moving from reserved Capricorn and into social oriented Aquarius.

While the Sun is in Capricorn, there is a natural tendency for us to withdraw.   Capricorn is associated with social structures, responsibilities, and focus on the more practical sides of life.  On a more humorous note, it’s when the credit card bills from Christmas come home to roost.  We go within and focus on getting our finances in order and all those dastardly resolutions we have chosen to make.  However, the terrain of the sign of Aquarius is much different.  Aquarius is an air sign so it is concerned with thoughts, ideas, progress, and since it is the natural ruler of the 11th house our social circle.  While the Sun is in Aquarius we need to feel part of the social fabric of society, so there is an urge to get out of the house (despite the cold temperatures) and begin to interact with others in a more meaningful way.

We can use the energy of the sign of Aquarius proactively to examine our social circles and decide whether or not it is giving us the food we need.  In some cases, certain groups may fulfill us for a certain period of time, yet when we need other food others groups may be necessary.  There is a powerful energy of reform in the sign of Aquarius, and often what we need to reform is ourselves.

Take some time while the Sun is in Aquarius to experiment with something new.  Is there a group you have always had interest in?  Are there new ideas you would like to explore that would require your interaction with others?  Further, make a list of people you have lost contact with and reconnect to them once again.  You will soon realize that the world is a greater place with all those “others” in it.

Grab your charts.  If you need a copy of yours, you can get one for free at my website.   If you have any planets around 19-23 degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, or Pisces this forecast’s energies will be more significant for you.

It’s the second Saturday of the New Year and the positive aspect train of the day continues.  The last two aspect, (Venus sextile Saturn and Sun conjunct Venus) focused primarily on relationships.  This blog post will be more self-focused.

At this point, everyone should have their resolutions sorted, gifted returned and exchanged, and ‘thank you’ letters and cars sent.  It’s now time to get down to some serious business and Sun sextile Saturn gives us the right energy to do it.

Since this is a New Year, have you considered what you would like to achieve over the next 365 days?  Would you like a new job?  Explore a different career path?  Find a relationship?  There are many different avenue that we can use the New Year to plot some self-improvement, yet in order to achieve the desired results, it might require a bit of work.  Sun sextile Saturn is an excellent time to focus on getting things done and examining our ambitions (Saturn rules ambitious oriented Capricorn) and make the plans necessary for you to achieve them in the physical world.

Take some time out of your day today to really analyze the direction you would like to take this year.  In addition, list the path to get what you want.  If you use mind maps or vision boards, now is the time to get them out. This exercise might require a bit of serious thinking and deep thought, but there is no better time than a Sun sextile Saturn aspect to explore your future in a tangible way with a strategy to get what you want.

Sun conjunct Venus — Today’s Astrology — January 11, 2014

Sun in Capricorn conjunct Venus in Capricorn

Sun in Capricorn conjunct Venus in CapricornSun in Capricorn conjunct Venus in Capricorn at 7:24 AM EST / 4:24 AM PST

Grab your charts.  If you need a copy of yours, you can get one for free at my website.   If you have any planets around 19-23 degrees of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn this forecast’s energies will be more significant for you.

Earlier this morning, we had the lovely aspect of Venus retrograde sextile Saturn which has given us an ability to communicate effectively in relationships in order for us to get our relationships moving in the right direction.  Now, the Sun is going to conjoin with Venus which is going to put a little sparkly glitter on your already frosted cake.

In horary astrology, one of the aspects that is considered a marriage aspect is Sun conjunct Venus.  Additionally, when progressed Venus aspects the Sun or the progressed Sun aspects Venus, significant relationships often occur – relationships that often lead to marriage.

But, why?

The Sun and Venus are both solar planets.  The Sun makes us aware of our destiny and its job is to shine.   Venus is the relationship planet; she gives us our ability to seek out relationships with others and makes us feel desirable.  When these two planets get together, everything just looks better, is more enjoyable, and we put forth our most attractive face.  The conjunction of the Sun and Venus allows us to “sell our personal wares” to others, and the energy makes them more receptive to purchase our “goods”.   If you are currently single, this is a great time to seek out relationships — go out and socialize and get your freak on!  If you are currently in a relationship, this is a great day to just enjoy your significant other by giving them the best present they can get – YOU!

Sun oppose Jupiter — Today’s Astrology — January 5, 2014

Sun in Capricorn oppose Jupiter in Cancer
Tweet

Sun in Capricorn oppose Jupiter in CancerSun in Capricorn oppose Jupiter in Cancer Rx at 4:11 PM EST / 1:11 PM PST

Grab your charts.  If you need a copy of yours, you can get one for free at my website.   If you have any planets around 12-18 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn this forecast’s energies will be more significant for you.

In my last astrological forecast, I wrote about the positive nature of Jupiterian oppositions.  You see, Jupiter is the great big positive planet in the sky (called the great benefic) and although oppositions tend to bring about challenges and struggles with others, Jupiterian oppositions to the inner planets (he can be rather nasty when he is combined with the outers) are usually fairly easy to work with.  The opposition to the Sun is no exception because Jupiter helps us become “all we can be”.

You will find Sunday (and for the most part the entire weekend) filled with optimism and good cheer.  In many ways, you will find the strength to the take on the world.  Everything will seem rosy, cheerful, and beautiful.  However, during these times, we are the most vulnerable to do things in excess – overeat, oversleep, overspend, overdrink, overeverything.  This could lead to unnecessary problems that you should attempt to avoid.  However, if you wish to be adventurous (after all Jupiter rules Sagittarius) or take risks (Jupiter loves these also) or simply be playful, this would be a great time to let out your inner child.

There is one warning with this aspect.  Since Jupiter expands any planet it contacts in the horoscope, it can lead to some problems with the Sun.  If the Sun gets overinflated it can lead to self-righteousness, feelings of self-importance, and when cornered it can depreciate the value of others.  Make sure not to engage in excessive arguments where being “right” is the motivation or endgame goal.  Sometimes, it is ok to quietly let others be wrong.

Sun Conjoins Pluto in Capricorn

December 31, 2013 by admin Leave a Comment

Sun conjunct Pluto in Capricorn
Tweet

Sun conjunct Pluto in CapricornSun in Capricorn will conjoin Pluto in Capricorn at 1:57 PM EST / 10:57 AM PST

Grab your charts.  If you need a copy of yours, you can get one for free at my website.   If you have any planets around 10-14 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn this forecast’s energies will be more significant for you.

In my 2014 year overview blog that I wrote in November, I discussed the interesting aspects that occur at the beginning of January.  We have a rather curious new moon at 11 Capricorn, which gets entangled in the already intensely explosive Uranus square Pluto configuration that has been occurred for 2 years now.  I would encourage you to read that blog to get a solid grip on the energy of the upcoming year.  This blog will focus on the solar aspect (meaning the Sun) and how we can interpret these energies in order to use them in a productive manner than sitting passively letting the outer planets dictate the future.

The Sun in the horoscope is about personal power.  It is the planet (in astrology we consider the Sun a planet) that gives us the ability to go out into the world and be a unique individual.  Its radiance makes us feel special and gives us a sense of purpose and destiny in life.  On the other hand, transits of Pluto tend to tear down or eliminate any aspect of the personality that is no longer viable or of use to an individual.  His movement through the heavens reveal to us the areas of life that need to be “renewed”, which first usually has to go through a process of death and decay in order for the “new” to be born.

On Wednesday, it will be necessary for us to take a very deep look at our lives. Are there areas of your life that are no longer working for you that you may need to modify in order to continue to be productive?   What areas of your life to do you need to let go of?  Whenever the Sun and Pluto conjoin, the issue of personal power becomes highlighted.  Often, we are so caught up in our day to day activities of jobs, family, relationships, and financial concerns, that we lose track of ourselves and as a result “leak” our personal power out to others.  This dynamic aspect gives us the ability to take it back, reshape it and remold it, and allows us to make our lives more durable.

Where do you plan to get rid of the old in order to embrace the new?

Is It Over Yet?

June 26, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

“Is it over yet?”   I have answered this question multiple times over the past month, and each time I can hear the horror in people’s voices when I answer, “not anytime soon!”   It’s been a rough road since the beginning of June when the current eclipse cycle began.  Week after week we are being bombarded with very intensive astrological energies with no end in sight.

By the way, you have seen nothing; this week is going to be INTENSE! Buckle your seat belts — hazardous conditions ahead.

The Astrology:

Your major weather player this week is the Sun.  The Sun currently is in emotionally fluid Cancer.   Under normal circumstances, the Sun provides us with the ability to shine, be ourselves, and be individual.   He gives us the ability to know ourselves and remain loyal to the truth that lives within our hearts.   When the Sun has positive outlets from other planets, those planets provide us with a path to express our specialness.  However, when the Sun is afflicted (fancy word for difficult to express itself), our ability to shine can feel stymied, and we may feel pressured to conform to others or the collective consensus.  In fact, the urge to be unique and special can be threatening to others, who in turn may criticize or envy another’s sense of individuality.

As with the last few Cosmic Weather Forecasts, this forecast will continue to be challenging.  The Sun will be highly afflicted as it squares Uranus in Aries, opposes Pluto in Capricorn, and then squares Saturn in Libra.  In the midst of this intensive solar energy will be a Solar Eclipse on July 1 (I will focus exclusively on the Eclipse in a future blog) forming a cardinal grand cross.  If you are dizzy after reading all that, join the club!  I am dizzy thinking about it.

Your Cosmic Weather Forecast

Each week, I attempt to look at the current astrological signature and ask, “What is the lesson in this?”  What are the planets trying to tell us, and more importantly how do we understand this energy to make sense of it in a productive manner?  After all, what would be the use of knowing the energies of the planets if we could not use them to our advantage!

What can we learn from a grand cross?  A grand cross is an accumulation of astrological energies that have manifested over a period of time that have a profound influence on the collective.  Since they do not occur with regular frequency, they tend to bring about life altering energies.   Our natural tendency is to attempt to defend ourselves against their (the planets) onslaught, yet this only works for so long till we are forced to make particular changes and decisions that we have little choice in.  In many ways, if we are heavily influenced by these energies (major configurations such as Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in cardinal signs such as Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn) it is going to feel like we are being pulled in many directions until we hit “rock bottom” because there is no easy route out or any quick fix to our problems.  In fact, the intensity of our problems will persist until we make an active decision to change what we are doing, which might ultimately include a different path.

This week you will notice areas of your life that need changing.  What areas do you feel frustrated (Sun square Saturn) in?  Where do you feel obstacles are hindering (Sun square Saturn) your movement?  Are there areas of your life where you are reacting impulsively (Sun square Uranus) with knee jerk reactions?  Where do you feel worried, paranoid, obsessive, or uneasy (Sun oppose Pluto) in your life?   The areas of our lives that become highlight give us a hint about what changes we need to make in our lives to make them free of conflict and less stressful.

In Kabbalah, we are taught that what we see is only a small (very small) part of the big picture.   Often we are so afraid of change that we stay stuck in our current patterns much to our own dismay.   This week we are provided (via the stress of the aspects) an opportunity to see the bigger picture.  Often the scary change is for our better good, and often open doors and opportunities that would not be available to us.  The only condition is that we are brave enough to see.

Tarot Tune-Up:  Shuffle your favorite Tarot or Oracle deck.   Ask the following question, “Despite my current obstacles and frustrations, how can I best let my light shine?”   Pull 3-cards.  Let me know what you pulled!
